I am so excited to have another Contemporary Romance from Brighton Walsh in my hands!
Willow Haven has lived in the town that bears her family name all her life. Relationships are always at the heart of her stories, (not just romantic ones) and in Second Chance Charmer, she dives deep into the bonds between siblings, parents and friends.
As always, I can’t get enough of our main characters. While Finn is definitely a guys guy, he also isn’t afraid to share his feelings and lay it all on the line for the girl he loves. Willow is relatable in ways so many of us will definitely understand… and her relationships with her sisters are so wonderfully done. The chemistry between these two is so amazing, and it’s something that Walsh definitely excels at. You’ll get swoony, sweet moments and sexy, passionate moments… and you won’t be able to decide which is your favorite because they’re all so good.
This is also the start of a new companion series, which is good news for all of us, and while there are definitely some hints as to who’s story we’ll hopefully get next, I’ll take whatever Walsh wants to give us!

Finn and Willow loved one another in high school, but Finn left town without explanation and broke her heart. She’s never really gotten over him or her anger over his actions, so her feathers are ruffled when he comes back to town ten years later to open a bar. She’s ready to ignore him, but Finn realizes he lost the best thing he ever had and sets out to win her back. He’s swoony and sexy, and their chemistry is off the charts.
Although they can rekindle their relationship in the bedroom, they still have storm clouds hanging over their heads outside of it, mainly Willow’s father. He’s never liked Finn and Willow has always sought to please him. Finn has to convince her to forgive him for the past and that he is worth displeasing her father.

I'm becoming a real fan of the small-town trope. Maybe it speaks to me a bit more because I grew up in one, with all the advantages and definitely ALL the downsides of it.
This was my first Brighton Walsh book. I had it in my Kindle for a while, and it won't be my last. I loved how her writing style flowed, and how sweet and sort of steamy it got. Plus, I also want to see what happens to the other characters introduced in this story.
"And then he’d pulled her into his orbit, and her sadness had lifted because for the first time in her entire life, someone had seen her for exactly who she was. "
I love Finn. There's a certain satisfaction in seeing the hero from the wrong side of town growing up and making something of himself. And then shoving that in the faces of the people who can't see past your social status. Plus, he's a great guy, with a great heart, who doesn't give up once he has his sights on what he wants, i.e., Willow back in his life. And... yeah, he's hot, and has some seriously sexy skills.
"And besides being stunning as hell, she was smart. Funny. Kind. Generous. She was everything any sane man would want by his side."
I tried my hardest to connect to Willow, but it wasn't an easy task. I wish she would stand up for herself when it comes to her father. She's a grown woman, she doesn't need his approval for anything, and she shouldn't expect his compliments either. My heart broke for her, for being left behind, though, so she kind of grew on me at the end.
"He didn’t know whether to fall to her feet and hug her or hoot to the heavens. Because try as she might, she hadn’t forgotten about them."
Ten years before, Willow and Finn were sweethearts. The bad boy that is all wrong for one of the town's princesses, and Mayor's daughter. But they didn't let that stop them, and they had a wonderful love story, until he up and left her. No explanation, no reason, no contact. Just like that.
He moved to California with his mother and his twin brother, while she stayed behind in their small town. But now he's back, and there are so many questions left unanswered. The biggest one of them being – how will they resist the pull of their shared past?
"I’ve thought about that kiss every damn second since it happened. Played it out a hundred different ways, and they all end the same, Willowtree. With me inside you."
Finn was a dream. OK, he left, but we know why. When their past is mentioned, it really is a love story you'd wish was yours. Their tree house, their secret spot, their tattoos... I loved all of it. And it's heartbreaking when you find out the truth of what happened, and that they could've been together all this time.
Anyway, they may have moved past what they had (maybe), but they never forgot each other. And this is the second chance they both deserved.
I loved Finn's twin brother Drew, and how he sets him straight. I loved Willow's sisters, mother, and especially her grandmother. I hated her dad, of course, because I can't stand snobbish people. In books or real life.
"And she did know. Knew it was the same for him as it was for her. Knew it’d take a force of nature to tear them apart again."
This is a sweet, heartwarming read. It will definitely charm you, and make you wish Havenbrook was your town. Can't wait to get to the next ones!

I love a second chance romance. The romantic in me can't help but hope for a beautiful heart breaking, angst filled second chance romance. Sadly for me, this book, Second Chance Charmer lacked the 'umpf factor' for me. Actually, scratch that, It had a lot of sexual chemistry but I still found myself to be skimming through the pages of the book.
Sadly I could not connect with the characters and even though I loved their chemistry,sometimes, I just didn't love the book.
I felt like the storyline was too predictable and it got the point where I went ' I knew that was going to happen' or ' like I didn't see that coming'.
Having said that, Second Chance Charmer is a delightful, quick read. It's the type of book you pick knowing that you'll be getting an HAE ending.

I’m not a fan of second-chance romance, but this is Brighton Walsh so I thought I’d give it a chance. Unfortunately, it was disappointing.
What I’ve always hoped to see when I read books about this trope is a realistic portrayal of how a normal human being would react if faced with this particular situation. If I’m left without a goodbye or any explanations for ten long years, I would have moved on. If I hadn’t moved on and I saw the one who left me for ten long years, the first thing I would do is ask him why!
I confess I am proud and vindictive, but how can any woman fall back into the arms of a man who broke her heart without any explanation or an apology?
Another thing that was annoying in this book is how the heroine’s first reaction to the hero was getting aroused. Every time she was near him her nipples saluted him despite the fact they had sex once when she was 17.
The hero’s side of the story was not much better. At the beginning, it was clear the he came back to open a bar in Havenbrook and that he was not coming back for her. He was intending to go back to California after a couple of days and decided to stick around for a little bit in order to know why she was where he left her a decade ago. He didn’t feel guilty for leaving her which ruined the whole story for me.
The hero was an entitled prick who, imho, didn’t love the heroine. There was an instance when he got mad and hanged up on her because she wanted to protect herself. I never felt like he was really committed to Willow as he needed to be prodded by his brother throughout the book in order to fight for her.
Everything fell flat and I feel like there was no depth to the book. There was no character development and a lot was left hanging especially her relationship with her father and elder sister.
This was not a love story and it would have been better if Willow ended up putting the hero in his place and choosing to stand up for herself.

This is a gorgeous read. A sweet, sexy and heartfelt second-chance-romance that is low-angst and completely engaging, and I loved it.
Willow and Finn grew up in the small town of Havenbrook, but their lives couldn’t have been more different. Willow is considered small-town royalty as her family founded the town and one family member after another has held the office of Mayor going back generations – currently her father. Finn grew up on the other side of town in a trailer with his twin brother and single mother who worked four jobs just to make ends meet. But that didn’t stop Willow and Finn from falling in love as teenagers. They were everything to each other, and knew they’d be together forever, until Finn suddenly up and left town, devastating them both and leaving Willow with lots of questions and a broken heart.
Now it’s ten years later. Willow is working for her demanding father who never recognises the job she does, or the effort she puts in, and Finn is back in town to go in on a business with his brother and a childhood friend – Havenbrook’s very first bar. And from the moment these two lay eyes on each other, sparks are flying!
Willow is gobsmacked to see Finn back in town. She may still be drawn to him in a way that is undeniable, but she’s still hurt and confused over him leaving her, and she’s determined not to open herself up to him in any way while he’s in town.
Finn may have left town all those years ago, but that doesn’t mean he stopped loving Willow. He’s missed her every day, and now that he’s back he quickly comes to the realisation that he can’t walk away again, and he goes about reminding Willow of what they had, making up for the past and making her his.
It’s a battle, but it’s a delicious battle. They both know that their feelings for each other were strong and they never went away, they have missed each other every day, and with the epic chemistry between them, I relished the build up just waiting for it all to happen.
Holy damn, this book is hot! The sexual tension is off the charts, and from the first touch between Finn and Willow you know they are going to be on fire together, and that anticipation pays off when they finally do reconnect and find themselves in a whole new world of attraction.
It’s hot, yes, and Finn is a deliciously dirty talker, but there’s also a strong sense of emotion and intimacy between them, and that connection is gorgeous.
But though they seem perfect together, they still have to deal with the issues of the past. And then there’s the matter of Willow’s controlling and disapproving father. They have things they need to work through, but with their friends and family firmly by their side and their hearts knowing what they want, it’s just a case of watching it all play out for them as they find their way to the future they’ve always wanted.
I loved this story. Willow and Finn are great characters, and though some of that conflict at the end could have easily been avoided and seemed a bit out of character , it creates a bit of drama and provides a nice build up for the big ending.
There’s a great cast of side characters, and I’m hoping that this turns into a series, because there’s already some great set ups, and I’d love to read their stories.
This is a sweet, fun, sexy, romantic and easy read. I loved it.

Heather's review from Smut MattersOn the surface; this should have been a perfect read for me. Second chance romance, small town, hero who comes back to his hometown temporarily but ended up staying. Unfortunately the book fell a little flat for me.
I mentioned this on Twitter, but I'm getting more and more tired of the narrative we get in these second-chance stories where the woman has been stuck since the hero left, unable to move on with her life until he comes home and rescues her from her stasis. Here we have Willow Haven. She and Finn Thomas dated in high school, and Willow thought they were going to be together forever. Then Finn up and left one day. No goodbye, no note, no text, no phone call, just nothing. And Willow promptly canceled her plans to go to college in Nashville, deciding instead to stay in Haven and go to a local school, working for her garbage dad (the mayor) who treats her like shit after she graduates.
This is where she lost me. Finn is surprised to see her when he arrives in Haven. Since he never bothered to speak to a single person from Haven after he left, he assumed Willow had stuck with her original plans and moved to Nashville after high school. Finn asks her why she didn't leave, and she tells him that she hadn't wanted to without him. She completely upended her whole life after he left, deciding that she didn't really want to leave Haven after all. Instead she stays, working for her dad, who is a swaggering 1950s throwback who's eternally pissed that he had 4 amazing daughters and no sons. He doesn't think women can do anything right. Willow has busted her ass working for him for 5 years, doing everything he asked, usually before he asks for it, going above and beyond to make sure the town is running smoothly. She puts the yearly 4th of July parade together, mostly by herself, without a word of acknowledgment or thanks. The way her dad treats her is so bad that when he says to her "...it's nice to see you see you workin' hard finally." halfway through the book, she spends the rest of the book glowing because he finally paid her a compliment.
This is what she chose to do instead of following her dreams of going to Nashville and studying art. Because Finn left and she decided to put all of her own dreams aside. And since he left, of course, she dated a few times, had sex a few times, but that was it because no one could have been as good as Finn. Right- the only good sex she's ever had was the one time she and Finn did it in high school.
I didn't love Finn, either. He wasn't exactly an alpha, but he tended to ignore anything Willow told him about space she needed or time to readjust to having Finn back in her life. He's one of those guys who thinks it's adorable when women are angry and deliberately pushed her buttons.
The issue with her dad was somewhat resolved by the end of the book, though it seemed rushed and too simple. I would have liked to see him get more comeuppance. He was truly loathsome.
Even though I didn't understand the decisions Willow made, and I thought she let Finn off a little too easily, I liked this book. I liked it mainly in spite of Willow and Finn, though, rather than because of them. Brighton Walsh is a good writer, and Haven came to life in a way very few small towns do. It almost felt like another character and not just a generic small town there for the small-town romance novel of it all.
This is the first Brighton Walsh book I've read, and I'd read more by her. Especially the follow-up to this one, if it's going to involve who I think it will.

Second Chance Charmer is certainly a charming read! I initially picked it up because of the gorgeous cover- omg I love it so much, and then because it sounded like a really cute book. Thankfully it was! It met all my expectations and more. Fans of second chance romances and those who love small town, southern romances are going to want to grab this one. I can't wait for the next book in the series which is set to release in June.
Willow and Finn- the two main characters of this novel- are pure delights! Willow is as sassy as they come and has no room in her life for a certain someone that broke her heart 10 years ago. But Finn won't walk away (again) that easy and he plans on making Willow see how much he wants and needs a second chance with her.
There is some drama of course- Willow's father, the mayor of Havenbrook, wants Finn out of town and away from his daughter. Using a little blackmail may be the trick to get him out of town for good.
So what will happen with Finn and WIllow? Will they get their second chance at love? Or will the past come back to haunt them and keep them apart? You'll have to read to find out!
Overall, this is a really great read. I loved the characters (most of them anyway), the setting of Havenbrook (the authors writing gave me the ability to transport into the quaint little town), and of course the sweet little romance going on between Finn and Willow. But most of all? I love how the author sets up the upcoming, second book in the series. I am super excited! --No worries, this is a complete standalone. The next book will focus on a new set of characters!

Brighton Walsh has always been a favorite. I’ve been reading her words for what seems like forever and I will forever read them. I don’t even need to know what the story is about, her name is enough.
Willow and Finn are so much fun together. She seems straight laced, but she’s full of sass and he seems gruff, but he’s a sweet marshmallow when it comes to Willow. Together they have chemistry off the charts.
Plot wise it was a lot of push and pull and so many things could have been solved with a MFing conversation. However, Brighton has such a delicious thread of tension going through the story, it was easy to overlook. There’s a lot of history between them and I truly enjoyed reading them figure things out.
My only complaint is that I wanted a lot more from the epilogue, but I’m satisfied and crazy excited for the set up of the next book. Fingers crossed it’s Rory’s.

Willow Haven is doing her best to be perfect and keep her life in order and routine. But she will never be good enough for her Daddy the Mayor no matter how much she does for him or the town. Finn Thomas, the previous bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks that broke her heart and left her is now back in town. He and his brother and friend are bringing a bar to the previous dry town with the added benefit for making the Mayor mad and getting to check in with the girl he left behind.
He was not expecting a friendly reception and he was probably lucky to make it out of her office in one piece, but now he has decided to extend his stay for a bit to get the bar running. Willow cannot hide from him forever. But is their hometown big enough for the both of them?
The spark may not have fizzled between them, but the hurt and anger are still there. She's determined not to let him get close. But Finn is also one persistent man. And though Willow is strong and feisty in some ways, she has also been beat down by life in others. Neither can deny the crazy chemistry that crackles around them, so maybe letting go and taking a bit of pleasure temporarily might not be such a bad thing. If she can just keep her heart out of it.
They've got reasons to sneak around and avoid prying eyes. They still have secrets and old wounds from the past hanging over their heads. And Finn is only supposed to be in town temporarily. There are definite risks and it is hard to trust. So it is a recipe for one big mess of confused emotions.
I loved Finn. He really was a charmer. And I enjoyed his close bond with his twin, Drew. Willow was a bit harder to warm up to, but she had a lot of reasons to be a bit prickly. Her relationships with her sisters and family were complex and dynamic adding to the depth of the story.
This was an engaging, sexy, funny. second-chance, small town love story with just a bit of angst. I enjoyed the scene building of Havenbrooke, Mississippi and all of the quirky family and townspeople. I am interested in more stories especially with her sisters Rory, Mackenna, and Nat, his twin, Drew, and perhaps their friends, Nash, Nola, and Ty. There are plenty of interesting people in town.

This second chance romance is one that will draw you in and keep you hooked until before you know it, the last word has been read and you're left with that wonderful feeling of having just enjoyed a great book.
Willow and Finn are childhood sweethearts who's romance ended abruptly when Finn left with no word. Willow was devastated but has grown up and when he shows up 10 years later she plans to ignore him until he moves on again as she's sure he will. Finn on the other hand is happy about the business opportunity that presents him with a chance to return to his home town and the woman he left behind. He's determined to not be scared off so easily this time, but secrets from their past might tear them apart after all.
I loved Finn and Willow so much. I felt for Willow and her constant need to prove herself to her father. But I loved that despite everything she's been through with Finn and the lack of support from her father, she was still so strong and capable and just a really well written character. Finn was a good guy painted in a bad light and knowing the truth behind everything as it unfolded just solidified that fact for me. He rose above his rough start and made something of himself, and he's the kind of guy you can't help but root for things to work out for him. Their love was obvious, even when the sparks flying were of the angry variety.
There were so many great secondary characters in this book. And I am crossing my fingers for all the Haven girls to find their happily ever after in future books because I will certainly want to read those stories.

Willow never really got of the break up or him up and leaving and he is always in the back of her mind. Finn now all these years later is returning to Havenbrook with the intent to open a bar and get back the girl he left. Finn is no longer the young scared boy that can easily be threaten away.
This was a really nice second chance at love story!

Last year, a blogger friend of mine introduced me to an author duo named London Hale and I became obsessed. These authors wrote some sexy, sweet and smutty as hell novellas that entertained me so much, I simply could not get enough. Now, you’re probably wondering “what the hell does London Hale have to do with this review, Ari??” Well, Brighton Walsh makes up one half of the London Hale author duo so when I heard about her upcoming release I knew I had to pick it up.
Second Chance Charmer is a small town, second-chance romance that follows our two main characters Willow Haven and Griffin “Finn” Thomas. Willow and Finn were high school sweethearts who had their lives planned out but plans changed once Finn left town without looking back. Ten years later and Finn has returned to Havenbrook to start up a new business and Willow wants nothing to do with him. Can this southern charmer win his girl back or is a second shot at love not in the cards for them?
Second Chance Charmer is a book after my own heart. It has two of my favorite tropes, a small town setting and a second-chance at love. I fell in love with this book instantly and it’s all because of Willow Haven. She’s so damn sassy and a force to be reckoned with. She didn’t cut Finn any slack and made him work to earn her trust back. Finn is a man of patience as he was willing to do whatever it takes to have Willow hear him out. He may be a little rough around the edge, but he still has that southern gentleman charm that’ll make you swoon. I couldn’t help but fall for Finn and y’all won’t be able to help yourselves either.
The romance is just EVERYTHING! Despite being apart for ten years, the chemistry between Willow and Finn is still strong. But of course things don’t fall back into place so quickly for these two. There are a number of obstacles they need to overcome, the main one being Willow’s horrible father. I swear I wanted to walk all over that man with one of Willow’s high heels for all the despicable things he said. This romance is an angsty one and Brighton does a great job at building the heat because once things started going down, I was blushing like crazy.
Another thing I enjoyed about this book was Willow’s relationship with her sisters. At the beginning of the story, Willow and her three sisters didn’t all get along, but as the story went on the sisters grew closer. I even grew to like the eldest of the Haven sisters who was the one who caused the most tension between them and I’m hoping she gets her own book because I’m curious to know more about her.
Second Chance Charmer is a fun and sexy read that will charm all romance lovers off their feet. Seriously y’all, Brighton Walsh is such an under-rated author so don’t sleep on this book! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next book in this series. I have a hunch on who our potential couple might be and if I’m right, someone is about to shake things up in the small town of Havenbrook.

Brighton Walsh is back with a bang! She’s one of my top authors and as much as I enjoyed her erotica series written as London Hale, I was craving a full-length contemporary romance from her. Second Chance Charmer has the signature Brighton Walsh package of steaminess that fogs up your windows and swooniness that has you crying at your single state in a corner. Yes, I totally devoured this sexy small-town romance!
This book had one of my favorite romance tropes of all time – the second chance romance. I love watching a couple re-connect, and I secretly love all the underlying pain, angst and sorrow that the couple goes through. It makes watching them reunite even more satisfying, in my opinion. Willow and Finn, two people who came from the opposite tracks of life, but who fell in love as babies, were just absolutely perfect together. 10 years ago, Finn left town, leaving behind the one girl he has loved. She made a life for herself working at her dad’s office, despite the jackass dad not appreciating all her creativity and hard work. Then out of nowhere, Finn and his twin show up back in town and turn her life upside down. I liked Willow a lot. She was a sweet girl who tolerated a lot without complaining. She was supportive of her sisters and was always willing to help anyone. I looooved Finn too! Brighton always makes me fall for her heroes hard. Finn was one cocky, charming bastard, but gahhhh! I loved him so so much. I loved his blend of bad-boy and gentleman – it made for such an attractive combo. Of course, I was initially side-eyeing him for breaking poor Willow’s heart as a stupid teen, but he didn’t take long to convince me that his reasons were understandable. Finn was also an incredibly hard worker. Life had not been easy for him, but he had managed to make a good life for himself, and now he was back in town to woo back the one girl he regretted leaving behind.
The romance between Willow and Finn was PERFECT. Brighton Walsh is one of my favorite romance authors for a reason. She wrote a deliciously swoony romance here between Willow and Finn. I loved watching Finn trying to win back Willow with his words (lord, this boy’s mouth) and Willow trying hard to resist, but failing. Even years after their relationship ended, the chemistry was there bubbling underneath the surface. There was a perfect balance of sexual and emotional tension here, just the way I love my romances. And when Willow and Finn finally gave in to their attraction???? DECEASED.JPEG. It’s hot, hot, hot! The small Southern town in Second Chance Charmer also added to the appeal of the story. I’m a sucker for a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business and Havenbrook was certainly one of those towns. I liked a lot of the secondary cast especially and I can’t wait to see more of them and their romances in the subsequent books.

Second Chance Charmer was, dare I say it? An absolutely charming book.
This novel takes place in a small town and follows the classic story of girl being left behind by boy years ago, only to have him come back and wreck havoc on their lives. While Second Chance Charmer follows a multitude of familiar tropes and plotlines, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it anyway. It’s the type of classic second-chance romance that I’m here for anytime, anywhere.
The girl left behind, Willow, works for her father - a mayor who has very old and toxic views of how society should be like. She’s used to being pushed around by him, even though she tries her hardest to succeed. The boy who did the leaving, Finn, was kind of an outcast growing up in the town due to his lower socioeconomic status and single mother. He left in the hopes that Willow would lead a better life. But what he didn’t know was that after he left, Willow didn’t really have the passion to pursue that “better life” anymore.
So the chemistry was smoking hot, but even better was the way that Finn basically saw Willow like a queen. I loved seeing in his POV how selfless he was in regards to Willow and his friends and family. Finn is super dedicated and hard-working, and I think he did an excellent grovel for leaving Willow (as well as a justified reasoning). I also adored Willow, who was pretty insecure about herself due to her father but sought an outlet through artwork. They both had amazing growth throughout the book and the progression of their relationship. The story was very solid and well-paced. I read this quite quickly and am already craving more! Romance readers should definitely give this one a try - especially ones who like second chance romance.

Second Chance Charmer was so much fun! Wow, Finn and Willow really intrigued me, and I was addicted to their second chance.
Willow is the second daughter of a man who just wants sons. He got all daughters. She wants to please him so much, and just have her dad be proud of her. He's blustery and rude, and hates the man who just blew back into town, Finn. Finn was Willow's teenage love. Her first love who took off without looking back. There is so much more going on than she realizes, but she is so determined to stay away from the man she hasn't seen in ten years. Finn is determined to get past the antic's of the mayor, and prove to Willow how much she still means to him after all this time.
I loved Second Chance Charmer. The story was well rounded and evenly paced. This book didn't have much drama, and was low angst. Finn, Willow, and their friends made for an excellent cast that I really hope to see more of.

Second Chance Charmer charmed the pants right off of me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this second chance at love between childhood sweethearts story. The chemistry between the main characters, Willow and Finn had butterflies taking flight in my stomach and caused my pores to raise. Those scenes were everything. I loved going on this journey with them, getting a feel for the town and its inhabitants. I'm definitely hoping for more books from this world especially for the siblings of the hero and heroine. I definitely recommend it to lovers of romance set in a small town.

My introduction to Brighton Walsh's books was a good one! I enjoyed getting to know this town and its inhabitants, but the icing on the cake was this wonderful second chance romance. Willow needed this closure while Finn needed to prove his worth. Lots of sweet and tender moments, as well as tons of heat, proved to me that they belonged together. A highlight were all the sibling relationships as well. Seeing Willow's affection for her older sister grow, while reveling in the interactions between Finn and his twin were a nice bonus in this story. I am pretty excited about the next pairing too. Can't wait to return to Havenbrook!

2.5 Stars. I had SUCH high hopes for this one! I thought it looked really cute and I like a good second-chance romance story. I really had to force myself to get through it, though. What really didn't work for me is that there was so much more steam than actual story. I wanted to see Willow and Finn get to know each other again. I wanted to hear more about their relationship ten years prior. I wanted to know why Finn left how he did and I wanted Willow to ASK HIM about it. Instead, after an initial angry first greeting, they dive head first into a physical relationship with very little actual conversation or plot development. It's just lots of graphic sex scenes with very little care spent on any of the other scenes. I mean, there are some cute and romantic moments, scattered throughout, but not enough to make up for all my other complaints. I'm glad I finally gave this one a try, but I'm probably done with this author.

I fell hard and fast for this sweet and sexy storyline. Second Chance Charmer swept me right away with it's southern charm, it's small-town warmth and it's heartfelt romance. I'm a northern girl so the southern sweetness that enveloped me throughout this novel made me giddy. Everything from the decadent drawl of these characters, to the oh-so-polite yet sometimes snarky dialogue had me enamored. I love angst. I love intense romance. But what Brighton Walsh delivers here in this story is everything i needed right this moment. This romance is perfectly peppered with just the right amount of angsty heartache and complex drama, but at the heart of it is a gem of storyline, a feel-good love story of second chances that I absolutely adored.
Finn Thomas is just delicious. He's the perfect blend of southern gentleman and bad boy next door. Everything he says oozes sensuality and yummy flirtation but he's also so damn polite about it. With that swoony southern charm that slayed me the whole way through, I was head over heels for this guy who, even as he charges back into Willow's life and woos her into giving him another shot, he does so with manners, with adorable sweetness, and with this innate need to do right by her after having done her so wrong. He's just everything and I loved him so much. I don't often swoon all over a character but gosh darn it, Finn is divine. I loved a whole lot of things about this book but the charmer that is Finn Thomas is at the top of my list.

This story creates a delicious war in the reader, a stark conflict between wanting desperately to see this pair find a happily ever after and wanting to see Finn grovel a bit, wanting him to really repent for breaking her heart, wanting to understand what went wrong. I loved it. I was addicted to those feels. I could not get enough. It's been a while... TOO DAMN LONG... since I've read Brighton Walsh's work and I just LOVED everything she did here in this book. I love this world, this town, this couple, this storyline, these characters. I loved all of it.
Finn and Willow's romance is EXACTLY what I needed just now. My heart is bursting at the seams as I replay so many of these scenes over and over in my mind. The premise of first love gone wrong in a small town like Havenbrook allows for such a lush backdrop for a good romance. How do you not fall hard for a book peppered with tree house picnics and pickup truck kisses? This book is so romantic. It's fiery and passionate and emotional, but it's satisfyingly sweet all at once. It's everything I was desperate for and didn't even know it. You just can't come away from this book without feeling fulfilled, feeling giddy, feeling hopeful and grateful for second chances. And I have to say, Second Chance Charmer also hints at the strong possibility of so much more romance in the town of Havenbrook so I'll be waiting with baited breath for more from this charming little town. This is a MUST READ second chance romance and a new favorite from this author. I highly recommend!!

I won't lie, Brighton Walsh is a bestie and I've worked with her closely behind the scenes for all her books, but this title and its upcoming companion novels in this series are very near and dear to my heart for a whole new reason. Set in a small southern town loosely based on my own hometown (yay, she came and visited me for research purposes!!!), I feel a certain kinship with these characters and the little community they live in. Which brings me to my next point. Walsh has always had the capacity to easily capture main characters—with depth and genuineness—and their relationships—in all their complex, sexy, swoony, heartbreaking glory—and bring them clearly focused for the reader to get intimately acquainted with. However, with Second Chance Charmer I think she broadened her writing skills just a little more and really honed her craft of introducing surrounding characters and building an environment around all those moving pieces that really brings this novel to life on the page. I loved everyone, from our leading people and their families/friends all the way to the little old mail lady, Edna, who likes to drop off little morsels of gossip with her packages. More so, the way that Brighton whispers about the sky, the summer heat, and the background noises made me feel as though I was sitting on my very own front porch swing as the characters in the book breezed by me.
I can't wait to see what more comes from Brighton and the characters and romances set in this saucy little town of Havenbrook. I know some of what she has up her sleeve, but if they all turn out like this one did, then she's going to have one hell of a sexy series on her hands. Do yourself a favor and jump on this one ASAP.

Finn Thomas has a reputation for trouble that was earned during his wild teenage years. He has plans to remodel a prominent building into a new bar, but doesn’t plan to stay long. When he finds out the girl he left behind all those years is still in town, he fights a pull towards her that he has always felt. It doesn’t hurt that by sticking around he is also continuing to poke at the mayor, who has never been his biggest fan.
Willow is a determined, strong willed character who is constantly belittled, causing her to keep everything locked inside. She hasn’t felt free since her heart was broken when her first love left town without a word. Now that he’s back, she must battle her heart as well as town expectations in order to decide what is best for her, because she still has feelings for him even if they are buried under a layer of hurt and anger.
The title fits him to a T. He always was a charmer, but has a lot to prove when it comes to shaking off his reputation and the hurt he left behind when he moved away.
I loved watching as they rebuilt their relationship and faced the hurt and anger that had simmered for years during his absence. As they kept things secret between them, they may have addressed some of the baggage they carried, but the secrets kept them from facing some of the biggest obstacles they needed to tackle.
This was a fun, small town, second chance story. The history between them and the small town atmosphere kept their past close to the surface as expectations are heavy and memories are long in small town minds.

I enjoyed the story of Finn and Willow reconnecting and finding the happy that had been taken from them. There was enough info about their past to understand the connection without it dragging the story into one that was dwelling in the past.
A second chance romance, to work, needs the reason to be compelling enough that you believe it, but not quite bad enough that you can't forgive it...and this title struck that balance well. I believed that a 19 year old young man would make the choices he did, and that an almost 30 year old man would regret and want to change them.
There were times where the inner dialogue felt repetitive, like I had heard the same thing from the character before. This can work if they are working through something, but I felt that the author spent a lot of time reminding the reader that there was an attraction between them.
However, I did enjoy this overall. I liked the writing and I liked the "Southern" that was added into the speech and the customs. It felt authentic, and it gave a realism to the story that worked well.
I recommend this title and look forward to the next in the series.

Such a fun read!
We meet Willow and Finn, they were together many years ago, planned a future out of the town and all; but then something happened and Finn had to leave town and leave Willow behind with many questions.
Anyway, now he’s back and maybe there’ll be some answers, lol.
I love these two, I just absolutely loved the tension between them. NGL, I LOVE it when the main characters hate each other and slowly they open up to each other. There were so many secrets here, things Willow and Finn didn’t even know and ended up changing their perspective on the past like whoa.
I friggin’ loved Willow, such a lovely spirit… being stomped by her Dad. God I wanted to slap that man so much. How dare he crush her spirit? Which is why I liked Finn’s presence in her life, one of the few who really GOT Willow. Even though he made a pretty dumb decision.
There was a lot in this story to keep you entertained: lots of romance (with lots of tension), some family drama, small town gossip and deep buried secrets that needed to come out already.
A fun read and I can’t wait to read more.

This is one of those cute flirty stories with a strong southern flair. In this book, parents are called Daddy and Momma no matter how old you are, it’s full of “y’alls” and sweet tea and biscuits with gravy. A small town that was perishing but thanks to Willow Haven’s hard work, she was successful in bringing the town square back to life. Havenbrook was named after Willow’s family and through the generations, there has always been a Haven serving as mayor. Willow’s daddy is the current mayor, and as he only had four daughters, that tradition is now in peril. Willow is working for her father as a general assistant (read that she does all the work while her father plays solitaire in his computer), and she has worked hard for the past five years to bring businesses to the town, filled up empty spaces, spiffed up the streets and brought up the town finances.
On this day, she’s happy because she’s managing the start of a new business in the last remaining empty space in the town square. Even better, the new business will be a bar, very much needed in the town, since the lack of an entertainment and gathering place was bleeding people from their town. Since her father was out of town, she completed the arrangements before he knew about it. It was very well known he wanted to keep his town “clean” and he abhorred anything that would mar his 1950’s vision of what a town should be like. Willow knew it would bring prosperity so she sneaked that business in. The only problem was: it meant that the Walker boys were back in town after an absence of ten years. And one of the Walker boys broke her heart ten years ago when he left her without a goodbye or an explanation.
In the beginning, there was a lot of hate and cursing from Willow to Finn Walker. But when they saw each other for the first time in ten years, all the tingles and chemistry between them exploded again. Finn appeared truly sorry to have left her and he seemed to have missed her a lot. As the book progresses, you realize he had some suspicious push to leave town, and there was some connection with his mother being sick and needing a lot of medical care. He moved all the way to California, found a job and his twin Drew is a genius working the financial market, so they have done good. Now they came back to help their childhood friend Nola establish a bar in town.
As Finn and Drew work in the renovation of the place they bought, a lot of things were happening in town. Willow’s daddy arrived back home and formed a ruckus but the deed was done. So he threw a wrench in the works anywhere he could with the inspections and regulations. Rory, Willow’s eldest sister, who was a goody-two-shows and squealed everything to their daddy was secretly helping the Walker brothers decorate the place, and Finn was slowly but surely winning Willow back. There’s a cute detail, when Willow turned eighteen, they both went to get tattoos; hers was a bird and Finn’s was a willow tree. His nickname for Willow was also Willowtree. As the years of absence passed, on her birthday he was always in a bad way and he compensated adding more roots to his willowtree tattoo. This couple was meant to be and this book was a delicious journey to them renewing their love story.

After a year with no new Brighton Walsh books (though I loved her London Hale releases!), I was thrilled to learn she was releasing a new book early in 2018. I read it pretty much as soon as I got my hot little hands on it. (I just, uh, sucked at getting it reviewed. Are you sensing a theme?) I totally adored Finlow and the southern, small town setting totally worked for me.
I can always count on Brighton to bring the heat and the swoons — and I know she'll always leave me with a happy ending and very little angst along the way — and Second Chance Charmer was no exception. Of course, I'm a total sucker for a second chance romance, so it was pretty much a foregone conclusion I'd fall in love with this book. I did. 1000%. Finn and Willow had a complicated past, but there was no doubt they were meant to be. Without spoiling anything, oh did he pine for her while they were apart. *swoons all over the place*
This book just flat out made my heart happy. It was the perfect combination of swoons and super sexy times. Finlow FTW!

After a year with no new Brighton Walsh books (though I loved her London Hale releases!), I was thrilled to learn she was releasing a new book early in 2018. I read it pretty much as soon as I got my hot little hands on it. (I just, uh, sucked at getting it reviewed. Are you sensing a theme?) I totally adored Finlow and the southern, small town setting totally worked for me.
I can always count on Brighton to bring the heat and the swoons — and I know she'll always leave me with a happy ending and very little angst along the way — and Second Chance Charmer was no exception. Of course, I'm a total sucker for a second chance romance, so it was pretty much a foregone conclusion I'd fall in love with this book. I did. 1000%. Finn and Willow had a complicated past, but there was no doubt they were meant to be. Without spoiling anything, oh did he pine for her while they were apart. *swoons all over the place*
This book just flat out made my heart happy. It was the perfect combination of swoons and super sexy times. Finlow FTW!
